Custom wood shelving, built to fit your garage or basement

Your basement did not get away from you. It just never had anywhere to put anything. I build 2x4 and plywood shelving anchored into your studs, sized to the bins you already own, across Munster and Northwest Indiana. Most jobs are done in a day.

The room you have been avoiding

It is the most normal thing in the world

Nobody plans for the basement to become the dumping ground. It happens one box at a time. A move, a baby, a holiday, a project you meant to finish. Then one day you cannot walk through it, and the longer it sits the harder it is to start.

You cannot find anything

The Christmas bins are under the baby gear, which is under the boxes from the move. You buy a second one of things you already own.

It is all sitting on the floor

Basements around here take on water once in a while. Anything in a cardboard box on a concrete floor is on borrowed time.

The rack you bought is already sagging

Store-bought wire and plastic racks bow in the middle, wobble when you load them, and will not fit a big tote two across.

What actually fixes it

Strong shelves on the right wall, sized to what you already own

You do not have a system problem. You have a wall that is not working. Put a proper run of shelving on it, built to your ceiling height and deep enough for your bins, and the floor clears itself.

This is the build people find when they go looking online: 2x4 ledgers lagged into the wall studs, front uprights carrying to the floor, cross supports, plywood decks. It is the right answer. Most people just do not have the tools, the time, or the saw to do it themselves.

So I do it for you. I measure to your space, build it on site, and it is usually done in a day.

How I build them, step by step

This is the same system on every job. It is the one the internet tells you to build, and it is the reason these shelves do not sag.

01

Ledgers

A 2x4 ledger runs the length of the wall and gets anchored into the studs, not the drywall.

02

Doubled ledgers

Where the load calls for it, the ledger is doubled up so the back edge of every shelf is carrying on two members.

03

Front uprights

Full height 2x4 uprights carry the front edge all the way to the floor, so nothing is hanging off the wall alone.

04

Extended frame

The frame is squared and extended to the depth your bins actually need, not to a catalog depth.

05

Cross supports

Cross members tie front to back on every level. This is what kills the sag before it starts.

06

Plywood decks

Plywood decks drop in on top, screwed down flat. Now it is a shelf you can stand on.

What I build

Five things, done properly

Garages, basements, utility rooms. Open, heavy-duty, load-bearing storage built from real lumber.

Real work, real garages

Built into the space, not parked in it

This one went in beside a garage entry door. Four tiers, full depth, uprights set on leveling feet so the whole run sits dead flat on a sloped garage slab.

Notice what is not there: no gap you cannot reach, no wasted foot at the top, no wobble. The height of every shelf was decided by what was going on it.

“My garage never looked better! Fit to my space, quick install and very fair price.”

Straight answers

What people ask me before they book

What does custom garage or basement shelving cost?

It depends on how much wall you are covering, how deep the shelves need to be, and how many tiers you want. That is exactly why the estimate is a video call instead of a form: show me the space and rough measurements and I will give you a real number on the call, not a range that means nothing.

Do I really not need someone to come to my house?

Not for the estimate. You show me the wall on your phone, tell me roughly how long it is and how high the ceiling is, and I can price it. I come out once, to build it. That is the only visit.

How much weight will these hold?

A lot more than a store-bought rack. The back edge of every shelf rides on a 2x4 ledger anchored into the wall studs, the front edge is carried by full height uprights going to the floor, and cross supports tie them together under the plywood. They are built to be loaded, not to look loaded.

Will the shelves fit my storage totes?

That is the whole point. Bring a tote to the video call and hold it up if you want. I set shelf depth and the spacing between tiers around the bins you actually own, so you are not stacking them sideways or leaving eight inches of dead air above every one.

My basement gets a little water sometimes. Does that matter?

It matters a lot, and it is a good reason to do this. Everything comes up off the concrete. Cardboard on a basement floor is the thing that gets ruined, so we get it up on a deck where air can move around it.

How long does the install take?

Most jobs are a single day. Bigger runs or a whole garage plus a basement can go into a second day, and I will tell you which one yours is on the estimate call so you can plan around it.

Do you stand behind the work?

Yes. The work is backed by a workmanship warranty, and more to the point, I live here. I am not a crew that rotates through town. If something is not right, you call the same number you called the first time and you get me.

What towns do you cover?

Munster, Highland, Dyer, Schererville, Griffith, St. John, Crown Point, Hammond and Merrillville, plus the towns tucked in between them. If you are close to that list, just ask.
